Her eyes were made of steel as she stared into the reflective glass. She could hear Jackson moving around in her living room as she stood there. He was picking up his things and would be gone soon. She could have cared less. Bringing up her hands, she did her best not to flinch from the pain, as she lifted the hood of her jacket so it covered most of her head. She stared for another second, before putting on the sun glasses and opening the door. Kaz moved with a purpose, there was a fluid motion of her steps as she crossed the hallway and entered her living room, Riley and Duke hovered around her feet but kept out from her way, they seemed provective, she couldn't blame them. Duke was on her right and she touched his head behind his ears, rubbed for a moment as she stood in the living room, with her arms hanging by her sides, not her normal strong stance. She hid the split for her arm with the sleeve of her jacket. "I don't think you should be doing this Kaz," Jackson told her as she watched him exit her house, "That's why your not the Leader." she told him with a sure tone in her voice. She rubbed Duke's head till he left, before she picked up her phone and called who she needed, within five minutes she was in a car.
The board came before them, and the rider next to her a male turned and looked at her. "Keep going" she instructed him. He pressed on the petal of a brand new mustang rushing it toward until she was where she needed to be. She exited the car without a thought, telling him "I'll get a ride home." She walked to the door without a pause in her step, she was on a misson. She didn't hesitate when she got to Ivy's door. She lifted her left hand and let it rap on the door, the knuckles on her right fist were still bandaged, she'd reopened them last night when she'd broken up the fight. She pressed her sunglasses in more so Ivy wouldn't be able to see it right away.

Ivy didn't expect any company. It had been a long night, considering her run in with Kai. She coughed a few times. "Damn cigarettes." She muttered. She really shouldn't have smoked. The whiskey was out of her system, but she had a slight headache. throwing on some clothes, she went to make coffee.
A few cups later she felt pretty normal and had already sent out a few threads and runners. Ivy was working on a plan of where to tag, what boundaries to push. She had to start doing something other than keep the peace now.
That's when there was a knock at her apartment door. Ivy went to it and pressed her eye to peephole. Kaz? What the hell was she doing here? Not only was it not safe for her, it was completely a sneaky way to get things done. Ivy opened the door, keeping it chained, so it would only open a few inches. She looked out. "What is it Kaz?"

"Don't over extend yourself Kaz. You've almost broken this hand, and that brusie is pretty nasty." she sat on her couch as he told her the typical warning she was expecting to get from him. He sighed knowing he wasn't going to be getting threw to her, he should have known better by now he'd dealt with her long enough, but he still tried, and she smirked at his endurance. "You and I both know I can't take things easy," it wasn't allowed with her job description.
She stood at the door, her hand was sore, and her head was pounding, but that was what a concussion did to you. She hadn't been able to sleep all night because of it, and now she was standing here looked at Ivy. Insinde of her something snapped when she saw Ivy, something closed her eyes for a moment and opened them and saw her old best friend the only person she'd ever talked to about the rape and wanted to cry and curl up with Ivy and tell her how much Kai had scared her last night. Then she woke up, "Let me in Ivy. It doesn't look good to have me on your door step," she said, it wasn't safe for her, to be standing here, and yet she was. Part of her thought about grabbing the chain and undoing it, instead she stood there, she'd stand there all day if she had to they needed to talk about last night.

Ivy pursed her lips but she closed the door a little and undid the chain, pulling it open to let Kaz inside. She wasn't sure why kaz was here and while she knew they were supposed to hate each other, Ivy could see the kid in Kaz that had somehow been her friend for years. She sighed and closed the door once Kaz had entered.
"Want some coffee?" She asked, pouring herself another mug. She was gonna need it to deal with Kaz. Though, she didn't look like she was here to fight, if she were, ivy knew she'd already be under fire.

Kaz paused for a second, as Ivy closed the door her heart pounded again as she opened the door for her. She stepped into the house threw the door, stepping out of Ivy's way to close the door. Looking down at her feet, she suddenly felt very small again, just like last time she'd seen Ivy. She felt like she didn't belong in Ivy's house, in Ivy's world, Ivy had been so clean and nice, Kaz was like that once, before she became rough, and edgy. She used to love everything Ivy had wishing she could live like the princess way she'd thought Ivy lived. Before she grew up, and started to resent Ivy's house a bit, to resent her friend had so much, when she had so little. This early in the morning she didn't feel resentment she felt something like a ping of longing inside of her, comfort, part of her mind wondered any second now would they run into Ivy's room and play dress up waiting for Kai. All of these things stirring inside of her made her feel warm inside her gut, until she tapped it down.
Stalking Ivy to where the coffee was, she nodded her head once, "Wouldn't mind a cup," she said. She looked around more, she couldn't see enough since she had her shades on but she wasn't willing to take them off yet. Her hands came together, hooked to each others pulling on them, she looked at Ivy, the ice was either going to break or it was going to shatter, and she looked at a window, she'd rather have it shatter without a Snake knowing she was here, then to break and have everyone talking about them behind there backs. "What happened last night Ivy" she came out with it, she didn't sound angry, just confused, wondering. She was trying to put the peices together, the only person she was angry with was Kai, and she'd deal with him when she choose too. "I know you and Kai saw each other, I'm just trying to figure out the inbetween." she said she wasn't here to acuse Ivy of anything.
"Kai got pretty shit faced last night, doubt he even remembers last night. I know he was drinking with you, but since you dipped out I guess you wouldn't know. He's not really an emotional drunk like some...." she paused and fingered the glasses. "He likes to be more physical." She grabbed the edge of the glasses and pulled them away from her face, so Ivy could see the purple brusie, there were still imprints of his fingers of her face from the impact. Kai doesn't drink to get drunk, but he saw you, got drunk and gave me this pretty shinner. So I'm forced to wonder what the hell happened between you two last night." she placed the glasses on the counter. Her eye hurt like a bitch she hadn't treated it at all yet, though the doctor wanted to, she wanted to know what happened first, if something was said that got him so angry, or if it just happened. She needed to know if anything else happened, she looked at Ivy.
Sighing and looking at the ground. "This wasn't how I wanted to greet my best friend back in town." she didn't want to be on other ends of a war with Ivy, but she wasn't making it any easier. Kaz still had to wonder if Ivy hated her for winning Kai. He'd been the one thing they'd both fought for on equal ground, and in the end she'd won, Ivy had lost and dissapeared.

"Back in town?" Ivy repeated with a laugh pouring a second cup of coffee. "I never left the city, I just left your side of it." her house on the upper east side didn't go anywhere, she had started to run with the Snakes, moved to this shady neighborhood once she was 18 and worked her way up the gang ladder. It wasn't that she'd left her home, she had just left her friends. Kaz had never really tried to look if she didn't know to find her several blocks away.
"Yeah, I found him alone at a bar, we exchanged some small talk, made us miss the old days. Got some whiskey hid away and drank. Talked about back when we were all friends." Ivy said, figuring that honesty was the policy here, since Kaz didn't look like she was about to throw a punch.
"You always hated when Kai drank..." She mused, taking a sip of her coffee. "He warned me that he might get physical." Ivy had left when they were both pretty drunk, not drunk enough to black out. She remembered it all. "He was a happy drunk when we went our separate ways, a little lost in the past, but..." Ivy shrugged.

Kaz shrugged her shoulder about the comments. Ivy may have never left the city, but the way she stormed out of her life, she might as well have. She sent the message loud and clear she didn't want Kaz to come looking for her. Not that she really could have come into Snake turf back than, she'd just been a little girl, still afraid of things, under someones wing, trying to gain her confidence back. Getting Kai had done wonders for her, but loosing Ivy had been so negative that'd it just pushed her deeper into the Tigers as she tried to forget.
She shurgged again, "I've never had any tolerance for drunks," she said it bitterly. Her life had been a story about scattered drunks, coming in and wrecking things for her. Starting with her mother, and ending with Kai last night. She harbored a hatred for drunks, she could understand having more then your limit, but loosing control and hurting somone, it made her angry. "Never will." how could you understand something that took things from you. Kaz looked at Ivy, she waited before asking. "Ivy" she looked down at the counter. Bitting her lip, she felt like they were in their teens before, when Kaz asked Ivy about how to dress and act around boys, like Ivy knew any better then her, but she'd thought Ivy knew everything.
Her eyes came up, unsheilded, she wasn't hiding anything. The fear, the sadness, the worrying they were all in her eyes, as she asked. "Do you still have feelings for Kai?"

"No Kaz, I don't." Ivy told her old friend, watching the pain in her old friend's eyes grow. As she looked at her, she couldn't see her as the leader of the enemy, just the friend that was her opposite and someone who'd actually cared. "I don't have feelings for him." And she didn't. Kai didn't hold her heart anymore. Was there chemistry? Yes. Did she, and would she, act on that? No. No way. Their time, if they had one was passed. Besides, there was something up with Oliver....
"I miss him, I don't love him. I don't want to take him from you. I miss familiarity and certainty and the way my life was before." Ivy said, not meaning to tell Kaz everything, or at least, so much. Kai was their middle point, and maybe the glue that held Ivy and Kaz together. She sipped her coffee and sighed.
"He just wanted not to feel trapped in your rules about drinking, or something, he would hate to hurt you. I can tell that much."

Something inside of Kaz's heart jumped when Ivy said she didn't like Kai anymore. She'd thought the news would be more settling that she'd feel better after Ivy said that, but she still felt worried. Biting her lip, she was so afraid of loosing Kai, but her stomach turned to think about him after everything. She nodded her head, she didn't believe Ivy would lie to her, not about Kai there was something with the history that told her that she just hoped she was right to trust that. "Okay,"
"I do." she said looking down again, something that looked like a blush came to her cheeks. She looked back into Ivy's eyes, maybe some part of her wanted Ivy's blessing or something, her approval, "I love Kai." she didn't know what it was about him, but she did, she loved him, even if right now she didn't think she could be around him. She shook her head, getting her hair out of her face, "My face says differently, but my head says it was the booze," still there was the revalation that Kai had hurt her. She didn't know what she was going to do about that.
"I never thought that I'd end up with Kai....that we'd be in this war." because it was a war. Snakes and Tigers, she looked at Ivy, and while she'd seen her friends face, she had to remember where she was, just like with Kai, she had to shift from Cassy the girl only they knew, to Kaz fearless leader of the Tigers. If only she was fearless.

"We're in a war because of our colors, if it hadn't been for that..." They would have become friends again. But they had both turned to gangs to give them what they needed. Different gangs, and now they were running them. Kaz and Ivy had always been an odd pair, but sometimes life happened that way.
"Kai didn't want to hurt you. he loves you too. People make mistakes, drunk people make more than sober ones. its just a fact." Ivy said. She wanted Kaz and Kai to stay together because then at least she knew two of their trio were happy and united. And frankly, if they weren't happy and whatnot, her feelings for Kai could rekindle. They hadn't changed. She didn't want to run that risk.
"I saw it coming, him picking you." Ivy had known for days before they had, she could see it in the very way they moved. The past stayed with them, it would get them through the future.

Kaz smirked at her, part of her wanted to trash talk the snakes but she had to admit. "You fit those scalely bastards, your quick on your feet." she smiled big and wide showing her teeth. "I'd make a mess over there, your gut knows better then your body," she didn't think or plan, she'd be yelling and jumping around, she'd make a mess of everything. Still it would have been good times, but she knew inside of her, "I needed the tigers," her eyes casted shadows. "After the attack...I was scared...and I was weak. They made me strong." He'd taught her how too lead. "I needed them, still need them," she looked at Ivy, her eyes saying what she wouldn't, she needed her friends. Kaz had been to scared to walk the streets after, she'd clung to Kai and Ivy, and by the time the drama had started and she'd noticed Ivy liked Kai, so did she, and she about died, but she'd won.
Sighing, she let it all go, it was water under the bridge, but she knew when the time came, it'd be fuel for the fire for this war machine. She rolled her eyes, "You knew and you let me sweat bullets?" she shook her head, no way. Kaz had been so scared she'd loose Kai to Ivy, like every whisper of a doubt she'd ever had about herself would be proven with that action, but she'd won, she'd gotten him, she laced her fingers together. "I'm sorry," she admitted. "But I wouldn't give him for the world." and somehow in her mind that made things better to her.

"You never let on how worried you were. I never told you in so many words how I felt, didn't tell him either. Though, he could tell, like you." Ivy said refilling her cup. It was gonna be that kind of day. "I know you wouldn't, I knew it then too. I felt like I'd lost everything, you know things couldn't have been the same with the three of us if you were a couple."
She needed structure, certainty, but just enough street life to remind her of the only friends she'd ever really had up to that point. The Snakes became the family she never had, the one she had just lost and they became all she had. Ivy wished it wasn't so, but life never ended up how you expected.
