So much had happened over the last couple of days, he couldn’t stop thinking about that night he was jumped by Snakes on his own tuff. Then he couldn’t stop thinking about how it went down with Kaz, not only as his leader but as his girlfriend. He wished things were better, deep down he wished that they could have met on better circumstances, where he wasn’t her second and she wasn’t the leader of a vicious gang. They could have shared a normal life together, but he just had to deal with that fact that they were part of a gang nothing was going to change that. She wouldn’t give up her rank so that they could run away together and be normal. He couldn’t blame her for that, there was a side of him that wouldn’t let her give up her gang, her family just for him. Tonight he wanted something different, something Neutral.
He walked towards the Broken record hoping to have some alone time and have a drink or to, he wasn’t a huge drinker only a couple here and there, tonight was the night he felt he needed the alcohol the most. And he wanted to do it somewhere where he wasn’t going to be annoyed by people he knew. Stepping into the club it wasn’t as busy as he thought it was going to be, usually this place was packed out to the max, regardless of what day it was. Shrugging away the unwanted thoughts he headed over to the bar and ordered a beer. Something weaker to start of with then later he would hit the hard stuff. The barman brought over his beer and cracked it open for him. Kai took with a smile and a nod and took a deep scull. It was refreshing, ice cold. He relaxed a little bit but he had learnt his lesson last time he did that so he was still on his guard.
Over a short time he had been approached by many drunk woman wanting to get all over him. He refused them instantly, there was nothing worse to him then a sloppy skanky girl. It made him think about how much respect they had for themselves. Not much by the looks of things. Soon he was on his fourth beer and still he felt no different. He needed something stronger but didn’t really want to have it as he knew Kaz didn’t like drinking at all. He didn’t want to upset her again. He just stuck to the beers. The music was loud and pumping now he turned around from the bar and looked at everyone. It had seemed to have filled out in the time he was sitting there. It was more like it now, heaps of people dancing and arguing over who’s skanky girl was who’s and it made him chuckle to himself. It was rather amusing.

Ivy just had to get out again. Normally, she'd stick to her own side, her own turf and try to keep her nose clean, get a little tipsy and keep the party rolling. But a week ago she had blacked out due to drinking, this leader thing was really disrupting her life. But Ivy wanted to prove to her middle school friend that she wasn't afraid.
That meant going in to neutral, a place where you could find both orange and green. She made sure her arms were bare so that her snake leader tattoo ( a snake around her upper arm with the roman numerals indicating she was the fourteenth leader thus far in their history) was visible.
She went to the bar and ordered a martini. Might prove some thing to keep it classy. Kaz was always more grungy. Ivy grew up with money, she still played little girl to her judge father while simultaneously running her side of the city.
Her side of the city... She still couldn't believe they made her leader.

Kai just looked at the empty beer bottle that was on the counter in front of him, he wasn’t feeling anything at the moment still not even tipsy, but drinking the beer was fun enough of him. He didn’t need to get drunk to have a good time, just sitting there alone with his thoughts was good enough. “Hey Mr Walker, haven’t seen you around here in a while” said a voice in front of him. Kai looked up at the owner of the voice and smiled, it was Tim a young bar tender that he used to know in school. “Hey Tim, yeah its been a while” he said reaching out to shake his hand. Tim gave him a smile and walked off down towards the other end of the bar to serve a young girl a martini. Kai looked up at the girl and then looked away, but it wasn’t long before his eyes were snapped back up to her. It was Ivy, crap! He looked away from her she hadn’t seen him yet, he turned around on the chair and had his back to her. So much for his time alone.
“Hey Kai! Can I get you another beer?” Tim called out from right in front of Ivy, his heart sank and he swallowed the lump in his throat and slowly turned around on his seat to look at Tim. “Yeah thanks” he called back to him and turned quickly back around on his chair. It Ivy didn’t look over at him and see that it was him then he would be okay but if she did hear Tim and see him sitting there, without a doubt she would be walking over to sit by him. Why wouldn’t she? After all they were old time friends after all, old time friends that had a past and not a very friendly one at that. Tim walked over and handing another drink and walked away quickly figuring out that Kai was pissed at him just by seeing the looking on his face. Words: 350 Notes: None Tag: Ivy

Ivy couldn't help but freeze when she heard the bartender calling out a name she knew too well. Kai. How many men did you meet with that name? Her bright eyes flicked over to him, watching him turn away. She hadn't gotten a good look, and it had been many years since she'd really seen him. They hadn't spoken since he started going with Kaz all those years ago.
Now it all seemed silly, chicks before dicks. Kaz and Ivy could have worked it out, Ivy should have been happy for Kaz. Ivy wasn't sure why she'd ever had a crush on him anyway. Maybe it was just the stupid teenager bad boy phase. Something she could admit to her dad, since she kept her gang ties secret. She was 23 now, times had changed, things were different.
Ivy was torn between pretending he didn't exist and sitting beside him to show him what he missed out on by picking the fearsome bitch that was Kaz.
She eventually stood up and moved to a seat next to Kai. "Hey stranger." She said, sipping her martini and looking at him. He was better looking than she remembered. But he was a Tiger and he loved Kaz, that said enough of his character: it was probably crap.

Kai cringed when he hear her voice behind him. He slowly turned around and gave her a smile. She was beautiful as always and he hated the fact that they couldn’t be friends and that it was his fault that it was him that caused the falling out between her and Kaz, but what was done was done and there wasn’t anything he could do about so he didn’t worry himself about it. She didn’t like Kaz so he didn’t like her. “Hey Ivy” he said and took a swig of his beer. His eyes traced over her and they landed on the tattoo that was on her arm. Confusion washed over him but soon it was replaced with shock.
“When did that happened?” he asked pointing at her tattoo. He hadn’t heard that she was now the leader of the Snakes and he wondered if it was her that organised the jump on him the other day. This made him angry but then again it was her job and she wasn’t like his friend anymore. But he was still pissed off, he pushed the thoughts away and concentrated on how he was going to get out of this situation without sparking anything nasty. He had other things to worry about now. Ivy smirked a little and sat down beside him. "Recently." It had only really been a handful of days. taggers were working on Ivy related designs to let the Tigers know power had changed hands, but that was part of her mission these days, be seen, assert your territory. Easier said than done, especially when her father was so well known. She was still playing a double life.
Ivy sipped her glass and looked away, golden hair falling over her shoulders. She felt sort of compelled to clear the air. "Hating you is just business," She said. Ivy didn't hate him, she blamed Kaz. Kaz knew how Ivy had felt back when she liked him and the Tiger bitch went after him anyway and won. "I don't even hate you, don't want to date you either, so as far as I'm concerned, we're good. But you can tell Kaz I still think she's a bitch." Ivy glanced at him. Had Kaz ever told him that he was what broke up their friendship. "She was before she got you."
Ivy took a large sip of her martini, working off the class so she could get into some real alcohol. "I used to be afraid of her, I'm not anymore." Maybe not the whole truth, but much of it was truth. She never considered fighting for what was starting between herself and Kai, fighting Kaz for him. She had played her own part in this. Besides, she no longer wanted him. Her bad boy phase found others to fill it. "You can tell her that too."

Ivy told him that it was only a recent happening. Why hadn’t Kaz told him, did she even know herself? Of course she knew, she knew everything that went on. Why would she keep that from him? Pushing that thought away he opened his mouth to talk but she beat him to it. She said something that made his eyebrows shoot up. She told him that she didn’t hate him it was only business. “Well I don’t hate you either” he said meaning it he didn’t hate her, it was just how things were these days.
She then went on to say that she didn’t want to date him which was a relief it would have been a pain in the ass having her wanting him still, now with everything that was going on. He frowned as she told him her thoughts about Kaz, with her being a bitch and all. He didn’t get angry because it was her right to think that about Kaz, Kaz probably thought the same thing about her, it was a win, win situation. He felt bad for Ivy, it was like she always lost at everything, she lost in getting him, and now she was the leader of the Snakes, epic fail.
“I’m not a snitch, besides she isn’t stupid, she knows it already” he said down the rest of his beer. He didn’t want to be here anymore, he felt as though he was being a traitor just sitting here with her. It was frustrating. Words: 252 Notes: None Tag: Ivy

Ivy snorted a little. Kaz couldn't see things right under her nose. She was always looking at the wrong things. Kaz reacted in her body, Ivy in her mind. That was why they chose different gangs, gangs that loved and required their strengths. "If she isn't stupid then she'll read it off your face anyway." He would say it without meaning too, just so long as Kaz was looking, and really saw what she was looking at.
Ivy sighed and dropped her tone. It felt weird to speak to him. They were on opposite sides of a war, they had all chosen their place. No weakness could be shown to him. No tremble of uncertainty and the wish that things were different. But they threatened to erupt out of her. Ivy made a mental note to call Oliver. He could at least distract her.
She flagged the bartender and he came over, looking a little sheepish to be near Kai again. "Don't worry. He'll get over it. I'd like a shot of vodka please." She told him. Then she would get out of his hair... probably.

Ivy was right, Kaz would be able to tell that he knew something she didn’t and she had her ways of making him feel guilty and he wouldn’t be able to keep it from her for long. Kai didn’t want to keep it from her so probably telling her straight away about their meeting tonight would be the best thing to do. Kaz was like a ticking time bomb he never really knew how she was going to react to the things he had to tell her. So informing her of things was always a difficult task and preparing himself for anything was the best way to get out of things unhurt.
“Your right, you know her better then I do” he said and watched as the bartender came over, he looked at his expression and he couldn’t help but smirk, seeing the two of them together would have made him feel uncomfortable and Kai understood that. At first he was a little uncomfortable himself but now he was relaxed a bit more. He had the feeling nothing bad was going to happen from this. Well he hoped so anyway, he didn’t want to be the cause of a war bigger then the one that was already going on between the two gangs.
The barman looked over to him as in to say did you want something else. Kai looked down at his beer and sculled the rest of it down and slid it towards the tender. “Another beer” he said looking back over to Ivy again. She really was beautiful. “So what have you been up to?” he said trying to make conversation. He didn’t want this to feel like a rivalry, more like a social friendly visit. Ivy wasn't sure she knew Kaz anymore, she wasn't sure she wanted too. the girl was too hot to handle, too much to take. Ivy sometimes wasn't sure why she had invested so much in that friendship, a pairing that seemed doomed from the start. But she said nothing about Kaz. She didn't want to talk about Kaz.
"Working," Was her simple answer. how else had she gotten promoted? Being known, being liked, doing consistently well. Ivy was elected. Kaz was a dictator. "We don't fight our way to the top." when her shot arrived she downed it and simply handed him back the glass. If she was really going to sit here and talk with him, she would need more alcohol.
Ivy sighed and looked at him. "Its been a long time, it doesn't take minutes to sum up years."

Kai was expecting that answer from Ivy, she didn’t really see a conversation started when I was spoken to her. Kai was really interested in what she had been up to it was, just the perfect awkward conversation starter. Kai smirked when she said that they don’t fight their way to the top. He instantly thought to himself, well how do you get there being a caring and honest person? He didn’t say anything like that to her as he didn’t want to start her off. You never know how might be lurching in the shadows. This could be a trap, but that was just Kai always thinking the worst. Kai took down the rest if his beer and placed the bottle down on the counter a little harder and louder then usual, hoping to get someone’s attention.
What she said next made him frown, Ivy and Kai had been friends for a long time, since they were kids. All three of them were inseparable, it was just as they got older did things start to change. Ivy and Kaz started to fill out sparking more then just lets hang out in the trees attitude from Kai. The he started to fall for Kaz having the feeling that Ivy liked him. It wasn’t his fault that he liked Kaz over Ivy. “If you didn’t leave after Kaz and I got together, then things might not be the way they are” he said swallowing the lump in his throat and looked over to the barman that just approached. “Whisky” he said and smirked as he watched the murky liquid being poured into a glass with nothing but a couple of ice cubes. He took a sip and the harshness caused goose bumps.
“Everyone knows that Kaz is a lot to handle, but you were the only person I knew that could” He said and sipped more of the whisky. This was much better but he felt guilty for doing it, he knew how Kaz felt about him drinking. He got very aggressive when he drank. Words: 345 Notes: None Tags: Ivy

Ivy nodded. "I know..." She had been one of the few who could tame Kaz, or at least could bring reason to the hurricane. "I couldn't have been a Tiger, you know that." Ivy was about smarts, planning, cunning, not fighting and power. Kai and Kaz were perfect for the Tigers, and ultimately, the gangs would have driven them apart just as surely as the fight over Kai did. In fact, that might have been the real reason and Kai was simply an excuse.
"Its hard enough to live a double life, I couldn't stay..." He knew her father was a judge and she played the rich elitist daughter and the one who snuck around. She couldn't be a bold tiger, so she chose to blend into the snakes. Easier that way. "Once I had forgiven Kaz, which didn't take long, I knew she'd be mad, maybe even worried. So I stayed away until i was over you, and by then we had already picked opposite sides." Ivy shook her head. There was nothing they could do about it. Fate had spoken.
Right?

Kai smirked when she agreed with him about being the only one who could handle Kaz. Memories flooded back from when they were kids, they used to argue and have cat fights and used to just watch them, he could have stopped them but what was the fun in that. He missed being young and care free, no rules no boundaries, how things had changed since then. After Ivy and Kaz stopped talking was when everything started to change, Kaz fought her was to the top of the tigers and she took him along for the ride. Ivy was now the leader of the Snakes and everything was changed, nothing could be the same between the three of them, between Ivy and Kai. They sacrifices they made.
Ivy then said something that made him snap back to reality, she couldn’t have been a tiger. For a long time Kai believed that she could have been a Tiger, but that was before he got smart. Its not like she wouldn’t last in the gang because she was weak because Kai knew she wasn’t but she wouldn’t have lasted because of her own will. She had the smarts and the brain to strategise, that’s how she ran things not with brute force, violence and intimidation. When you thought about it she was kind of perfect to lead the Snakes because of those traits. Good for her, bad for Kai and Kaz. “Yeah I know” He said giving a small smile to his old friend. He could never hate Ivy.
All three of them had way to much history, he didn’t know for sure but he had a feeling that Kaz wouldn’t go soft on her if they were ever to be in a confrontation. Kaz had way to much pride and she had to much loyalty for her gang. “If only things were different, I guess this was how things were meant to be” he said taking the rest of his whisky down and pushing the glass across the bar, if the barman knew what was good for him the glass would have new ice and more alcohol in it in a couple of minutes. Ha! As expected the tinkering of ice and pouring of alcohol and scraping of glass on wood and bam fresh drink. Smirking he picked up the glass and took a sip, the whisky and beer mixing in his stomach. Words: 402 Notes: None Tag: Ivy

Ivy smiled a little and tossed back her most recent shot, waving for another one to the bartender lightly. Maybe things were the way that they were meant to be. But sometimes Ivy wondered if fate was just an excuse for doing things the way you did... either way though, everything was different now and there was no going back. "Maybe when we're all like 70 things will change, but for now..." Ivy shook her head. Honestly, she didn't miss Kaz's craziness in her life. She was happy in the Snakes, happy with having Oliver for a best friend. Sure she missed Kai and Kaz on occasion, but she missed their past. Not enough to join them now.
People changed, but not that much. "Besides, I like where I am, and I've just been promoted." Ivy said tipping another one back. Whiskey was usually her victory drink, her tradition with Oliver. It felt wrong to do it with Kai, so she would stick to vodka.

Ivy could be right, when they were old and over the trivial shit of the past, things might be different. But Kai really couldn’t see that happening. After spending all those years fighting the battle between gangs the old and grumpy them probably wouldn’t want to make ends meet between them, Kai had no idea what he would be like at that age, but he knew Kaz and he knew that even though she was seventy years old she would be still fighting and running the show like her age wasn’t an issue. “I’m doubting that” he said with a smirk, it wasn’t meant to offend Ivy but he had the feeling that she felt it too. It was just wishful thinking really, besides who would want to pick up the pieces of a lost friendship at that age anyway. All three of them were stubborn and it wasn’t going to get any easier as they got older. He sipped the rest of his drink down slowly, enjoying the harsh but refreshing taste before it was gone. He could feel the whisky getting to him now.
Ivy was right about what she said next she was happy were she was, and he was also happy were he was. He wouldn’t trade places with anyone in the Snakes and he loved Kaz more then his own life he wasn’t about to give her up with out a fight he would die first. “That makes two of us” he said referring to their happiness in their gangs and their positions among its followers. “Being promoted is always a good thing. Under any other circumstances I would say congratulations but since it technically makes us enemies it wouldn’t be very appropriate” he said running his fingertip along the edge of his glass. Kai was truly happy that his old time friend was happy and above all safe and not dead somewhere, but he could never just call her up and ask her how she has been or make plans to have lunch. Talking to her now without trying to kill her was breaking so many rules and if anyone was to find out that their meeting was casual he would never hear the end of it.
“Ivy, I never meant for any of this to happen. I never meant for you to get hurt” he said thinking back again to when they were kids. Kai loved his two best friends, people used to think that he was gay because his only true friends were girls but he didn’t care. He protected them like a friend should and listened to their problems like a friend should. He could still do that with Kaz but what happened to Ivy from here on out was out of his hands and it truthfully broke his heart. Words: 469 Notes: None Tag: Ivy
